Industrial Grades & Standards

Industrial salt is graded primarily based on its Sodium Chloride (NaCl) content and the limit of impurities like Calcium and Magnesium.

  • NaCl Content: 99.5% minimum.
  • Description: Specifically processed for the Chlor-Alkali industry.
  • Applications: Caustic soda production, soda ash, and sophisticated chemical synthesis.
  • NaCl Content: 98.5% – 99.0%.
  • Description: Common industrial “Raw Salt” used in high volumes.
  • Applications: Textile dyeing (as a fixative), soap manufacturing, and detergent fillers.
  • NaCl Content: 94.0% – 97.0%.
  • Description: Less refined, often contains natural minerals (silica/clays).
  • Applications: Road de-icing, snow melting, and oil & gas drilling fluids.

Particle Size (Granulometry)

Industrial salt can be supplied in various “cuts” depending on the customer’s equipment.

  • Fine Powder: 0.15 mm – 0.85 mm (Used in detergents and soap).
  • Medium Crystal: 1 mm – 4 mm (Used in textile dyeing).
  • Coarse/Lumps: 5 mm – 12 mm (Used in water treatment and leather tanning).
